Performance Management

Camden works in partnership with senior line and human resources leaders to design and implement a system that will enable the organization to achieve its goals through the proper alignment of employee skills with the strategic objectives of the organization. The performance management system will enable managers to identify and develop high-, mid- and low-level performers. Additionally, it will enable employees to understand what they can and should do to continually improve their own performances and enhance their contributions to the organization.

The Audience
An organization's performance management system will impact employees at all levels. Camden will work with employees to understand how their roles link to organizational goals; know how well they are doing in the achievement of their own goals; understand their strengths and areas needing improvement; and find that the compensation and reward system is linked directly to their overall performance. Groups with a particular interest in a performance management system include:

  • Senior management teams desiring to better manage the overall organizational performance
  • Human resources staff wanting to track overall quality, consistency and equity
  • Individual managers and supervisors seeking ways to make their teams more productive and efficient
  • Individual employees needing valuable and timely feedback on their performances
The Camden Approach
Camden will work with senior managers to design, or revise, a performance management system that is tailored to the unique needs of the client organization. Generally, the creation of a system involves several common elements and best practices, including:

  • Cascading goals in a top-down manner to ensure that individual employee performance is aligned with the strategic focus of the organization
  • An effective process for timely and continual feedback to employees
  • Tangible results-driven performance objectives
  • An opportunity for developmental goal-setting and coaching in support of the goals
  • A clear link between compensation and performance
