Camden works with clients to define the critical skills, behaviors and attributes that are determined to be essential for ongoing and long-term organizational success. This may include reviewing the organization's most successful employees as well as analyzing the skills that will be necessary in the future. Competency modeling is used to help individual leaders and the organization focus on the essential skills that need to be developed.
The Audience
Camden's competency modeling capabilities are primarily targeted to organizations that recognize the importance of leadership development in meeting organizational goals. It is also vital for those that:
- Are in the midst of changing their business model or are influenced by significant market changes that will require a shift in the current model
- Have done little or no leadership development in the past or do not have formalized leadership development initiatives in place
- Want to embark on leadership development for a new level or generation of management
The Camden Approach
Competency modeling engagements can be completed in a relatively short period of time and involve a mix of interviews, surveys, assessments and consultation. Although each assignment is tailored to address specific organizational needs, the Camden approach involves a number of elements, and could include:
- Interviews or surveys of the senior leadership team to determine the skills and competencies desired in high performers
- Interviews with managers and employees to determine duties, responsibilities, challenges, skills and best practices
- Development of a customized competency model defining the core competencies required for leadership positions
- Development of an assessment survey to measure individual performance or skill level relative to the competency model
- Introduction and roll-out of the model to executives and managers
